Amazing campground with clean and well kept facilities. There are campgrounds along the river that are well treed and great for families so you have direct access to the river.
We had a group at the larger group site and plenty of room for cars and tents. Lots of picnic tables for food prep with trash bins at the group site and running water. No bears in the area either. The firepit was huge and had the flip over grill grate if you want to grill over the fire.
The river is amazing and jumping into the falls was a highlight of the trip. You can paddle board as well or just hang out in the slow parts of the river. The water was a great temperature even in June.
There is a large open field with lots of sun for games or hanging out, and they have a kids play structure too.
Love this spot and will be back!
This is one of my favorite places! There is a nice trail that intersects the Willapa Hills Trail and runs parallel to the Chehalis River. You can climb down to the falls when the river is low, or you can stand on the side and look at it when it's high. Also they have ample parking, lots of awesome camping spots with electricity and water. There is a day use hygiene building with two clean hot showers. There is a bit of a smell in the drain, but it gets hot if you need a shower. The showers are on the back side of the bathrooms in the day use parking area. They have an RV sewer dump station at the front of the park as well. V
Another “One of the better parks in Washington “ parks. Very lovely setting along the Chehalis river. The falls offer a good feature to the area. Obviously the main feature but you wouldn’t know it. This state park has ample camping for both tents and trailers. Very well maintained on all levels. It’s with out a doubt the first state park with clean restrooms. A big plus when in the woods for a few days. Off the main highway but it’s worth the detour. Great place.
Decided to finally drive all the way out to visit this park. I called 1st to asked about day use, as campground was full. You need to pay $10 for day use unless you already have a $30 State Discovery Pass. I saw pit toilets next to parking lot, which thankfully wasn't full.
Park was crowded and our hike down to rivers edge with our dog on a leash was extremely easy, but the waterfall that was all we could find and see, well it's not very impressive at all. Water is clear, fishing might be good, however water was very Cold to go swimming in mid June.
Beautiful day park and / or camp grounds. From individual camping spots to group camping. Beautiful location amongst some fantastic huge pine trees. The river is beautiful, places to dive and swim or wade and look for rocks. Rinsen off in the clean showers and bathrooms. The park rangers were great hosts, even delivering firewood. Running spickets near each camp.
Walk down to falls was nerve wracking and wouldn't recommend with kids. We parked on the highway for trail access and crossing the highway to get to trails with my kids also nerve wracking. We made it fine and once we did the trail system was great. Nice little loop with a few options for exploring. Great day spot for a hike for families (minus the highway crossing to get to the trailhead) I think if they could even have the highway traffic slow down to 45mph for the small strip near the trailhead access that would be awesome.
Another nice Washington State Park. Ample space to play, camp, run, and simply peaceful. Beautiful beach area for sunning and swimming. Campgrounds are clean. Bring Your Discover Pass and Clean Up after yourself.
A lovely little campground with a rocky scramble down to the river. The falls aren't huge, but they are beautiful. Worth a few days to enjoy tall trees, nature, and relax.
